The aim of this blog is to share my ideas about back pain management and prevention with like minded health professionals, teachers, researchers, fitness instructors and sports coaches; in fact anyone who can help spread the message that the CHRIS Theory is worth considering.
This blog is only of a general nature and does not provide specific advice for individual patients. We do not accept any liability whatsoever for the information provided.
Since I published Be Your Own Back Guru almost 3 years ago, I have had a lot of interest from other health professionals, sports coaches (especially Golf Pros ) as well as patients on the novel approach I have on back pain.
I have been giving lectures to various groups with good feedback about my novel approach to back pain and I am convinced that what I discovered over 20 years ago will eventually become common knowledge and we can eradicate the burden of low back pain on our society and the health system. As my theory of the development and perpetuation of back pain differs from the current theories, then the treatment and advice we give our patients on postures, exercises and daily activity will need to be modified.
Although I have not done any research on the efficacy of any treatments, all my ideas have been tested in over 20 years of clinical experience. I believe that the theory has been proven every time I have examined a patient with back pain. I hope you will look for the
signs of hip rib impingement on your patients/clients and modifying your current mode of treatment and education to improve outcomes.
The basic points of the theory are:
- Hip Rib Impingement (HRI) is the primary cause and perpetuating factor in back pain.
- HRI causes all the degenerative changes we see on radiography.
- avoiding HRI during our examination and treatment of the patient will reduce exacerbation after treatment.
- If the patient is able to avoid HRI, there will be no deterioration and back pain is more likely to resolve.
- HRI is also implicated in sciatica, groin pain, lower limb injuries and arthritis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, fibromyalgia, musculoskeletal chest pains etc.
I’m impressed, I need to say. Really hardly ever do I encounter a weblog that’s both educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you may have hit the nail on the head. Your concept is outstanding; the problem is something that not enough persons are talking intelligently about. I’m very happy that I stumbled throughout this in my search for something relating to this.
